Board Of Trustees

Lucy joined the Local Governing body of Knowles Primary school in 2012 and took the role of Chair in 2016.  Lucy was appointed as the Chair of the Lakes Academy Trust in 2018.

Lucy is a local resident, she has grown up in Bletchley and was a pupil at Knowles Primary and Leon School.  Lucy left in 1995 to live and work in London within the IT/Customer service Industry.  After over 10 years of living in London Lucy decided to return home and now works for a Global IT outsourcing company providing end-to-end solutions for companies across the entire scope of IT services, customer and eCommerce support.

Lucy’s main function within the company is strengthen standards within operational management as well as being directly responsible for the delivery of some of the services. Lucy is also part of the company’s senior management team.

Lucy’s skills and experience in people management, data analysis, financial awareness and knowledge of the local community along with her personal drive of knowing the importance to contribute to the developments but also to hold those to account for the outcomes and quality of education for the children are a great asset to the Trust.

Tony started his teaching career in 1985 and taught across the primary age range in schools in Daventry and Northampton. He took up his first headship in 2000 at a Milton Keynes school.

After being invited to become interim head at Water Hall Primary (a failing school on a challenging estate), he became substantive head and led the school to be rated as Outstanding in all areas by OFSTED in March 2013.

Tony is now CEO of The Lakes Academies Trust.

Tony is a former president of the National Association of Head Teachers, a member of the NAHT Assessment review group, Commission on assessment and a past chair of the assessment and accountability commission. He is a member of the Health Service England Expert Reference Group – Self Harm and Suicide Prevention Competency Framework.  Tony has also worked closely with Ministers and The Department for Education and successfully supported other schools. He is a trained Spiral Dynamics Coach.

Tony is a former professional football coach, he is a supporter of Huddersfield Town F.C and Huddersfield Giants R.L.

Karen started her teaching career in 1997 and taught across the primary age range in schools in Milton Keynes. She started at Water Hall Primary school as a Year 2 class teacher moving to Assistant Head Teacher, Deputy Head Teacher and Interim Head Teacher. Karen was part of the leadership team that led Water Hall to an Outstanding school in all areas in March 2013.

Karen is now Director of Education for The Lakes Academies Trust.

Karen is a trained Spiral Dynamics Coach and holds a diploma in Kaleidoscope Colour Therapy. She has worked closely with mental health professions to deliver the best outcomes for children in school. She has worked with cabinet ministers and the Department for Education and successfully supported other schools.

Karen is a former Fashion Designer, she practices mindfulness and yoga and backpacks to interesting places around the world whenever the opportunity arises.

Clerk to the Board

Carole joined Lakes Academies Trust in April 2017 as its Trust Governance Manager. She is responsible for all aspects of governance within the Trust, working closely with its trustees and local governors. She administers and clerks all Trust governance meetings.

Prior to joining the Trust, Carole worked within the Governor Services Department at Milton Keynes Borough Council. On behalf of the Council, she provided a clerking service to a number of governing boards across schools in Milton Keynes. She was formerly employed by the Institute of Chartered Accountants, in the Education & Training Department. As Head of Training, she was responsible for the administration of students’ practical training and admission to membership. She provided secretariat support to the Institute’s Council Chamber, Education & Training Directorate, a range of specialist Committees and led a number of policy development working parties.

Carole graduated from Loughborough University with a 2:1 honours degree in English Literature. Her hobbies include gardening and walking her Old English Sheepdog.
